How to create Stripe API keys

Securely connect your Stripe account to the Erbium registration experience.

In order to connect your Stripe account to Erbium platform you will need to obtain two API Keys from Stripe.

Publishable Key - this key is already created by Stripe and can be copied by clicking on the key

Restricted Key - you will follow the steps below to create a specific 'Restricted' key to be used within your Erbium connection.

IMPORTANT: You must copy and store the Restricted API Key created as a result of the following steps since you will not be able to access it later.  You will need this key to connect to the Erbium platform.

 

Don't have a Stripe account?

If you do not already have a Stripe account you will need to obtain an account.

Visit Stripe.com and open a "Standard" Stripe payments account.  You will need to provide some basic contact information, identification and specify the bank account to which collected funds should be deposited.

Obtain API Keys for your Stripe account

Follow these steps to obtain API keys:

  1. Log into your Stripe account

  2. Visit the Developer section - the link to the Developer section can be found at the bottom of the left most menu panel:



  3. Within the Developer section select API Keys from the menu:



  4. Click on the "+ Create restricted key" button as illustrated below



  5. From the two choices provided select "Providing this key to another website" as illustrated below:

  6. Provide the following website details:

    Name: Erbium
    URL: "https://erbium.com
    Be sure the check "Customize permission for this key"



  7. IMPORTANT ... You MUST customize the permissions in order for the Connection to work

    Customize the permissions as follows:

    i. "All Core Resources" = Write



    ii. "All Issuing Resources" = Write



  8. Once the permissions have been customized click "Create Key".  You may be asked to verify using multi-factor authentication code sent to your mobile phone.



  9. The newly created Restricted API Key will be displayed.  You can add a note to describe where it is stored.  Before you click "Done" click on the key to copy.

    IMPORTANT: You must copy and store the API Key since you will not be able to access it once you click "Done".  You will need the key to connect to the Erbium platform.




  10. The successfully created Restricted API Key will be displayed in your API Key dashboard:
